Ready made readers are a fantastic back-up for
the garage, office, kitchen or in the car. We carry a large selection
of ready made readers for your convenience. This, however, assumes that
your eyes require exactly the same correction in each eye. They do
not replace the need for having regular eye tests. Readers are simply
magnifying lenses – the reading
addition of a bifocal or multifocal lens simply magnifies to bring the
enlarged object nearer in order to be able to see comfortably .
What is very important is the fact that your distant vision may need correction and this is seldom the same in each eye. To read, the distant prescription is added to the reading prescription. Even if you don’t need to wear spectacles for distant vision permanently, spending a great deal of time wearing ready made readers can cause unnecessary eye strain, fatigue and headaches.
Most important of all, however, are regular eye tests that also check for hidden factors such as glaucoma and diabetes, which shows in the eye.
